Traiveon Gilchrist of Thomas Jefferson teamed up with fellow long jump competitor and friend Matthew Djangmah of Forest Hills, to take the winning Instagram AT&T #HealthySelfie picture here at the New Balance Track & Field Center at the Armory on the last and final day of competition at New Balance Indoor Nationals. We had a chance to catch up with these two post-competition and ask them what kind of healthy and unique ways they prep for big meets.

Gilchrist placed lots of emphasis on the fact that he stays well hydrated, “I drink A LOT of water” and Djanmah starts his day off right with a bowl of oatmeal and apples on meet day. In terms of apparel, Gilchrist likes to rep his Jefferson colors of Black/Navy and Orange “I like to match everything” as evidenced by his orange bucket hat paired with his hoodie, black and orange sweats and orange compression socks and shoes (which is also demonstrated in the winning Instagram pic. Matthew has a lucky compression top that he wears for “big meets” and meets in which he it is allowed, he sports an African necklace.
