Nike Indoor Nationals Return to The Armory March 8-10


The premier high school track & field indoor championship event will feature some of the best athletes and teams from across the U.S.

NEW YORK, March 6, 2024 - The National Scholastic Athletics Foundation (NSAF) will host the Nike Indoor Nationals on March 8-10, 2024 at the Nike Track & Field Center at The Armory in what promises to be the best high school indoor competition in the United States. 4,100 of the U.S.’s top middle school and high school athletes will compete over three days on the “fastest track in the world.”

Long known as a hub for sport and community, and home to more track records than any other indoor facility globally, the legendary track and field complex will welcome competitors from around the country to toe the line and take the field to compete for national titles. The meet will feature Championship and Emerging Elite divisions, as well as select freshman and middle school events. 

The competition kicks off on Friday morning and goes through Sunday. The full schedule, registration link, entry guidelines, and much more can be found at NikeIndoorNationals.com, including:

Eight athletes will defend their ‘23 Nike Indoor National titles, including Lillie Bogdan in the Girls 5,000m; Kameron Franklin in the Boys High Jump; Kya Crooke in the Girls High Jump; Juriad Hughes in the Boys Long Jump; Skylynn Townsend in the Girls Long Jump and Triple Jump and Jaden Lippett in the Boys Triple Jump.

Nike Outdoor Nationals Champions will seek to add to their medal haul with an indoor title, including Crater Distance Project in the Boys Distance Medley Relay; South Lakes TC in the Girls Distance Medley Relay; Jonathan Simms in the Boys 400m; Jane Hendegren in the Girls 2-mile; Maddie Fey in the Girls Shot Put; Byron Grevious in the Boys 5,000m and Juriad Hughes in the Boys Long Jump.

Other stars and top competitors of the meet include:

  • In the 60m, Jayden Finley posted a U.S. #1 6.61 this season, just 0.04 off the national record.

  • Jonathan Simms set an age 16 World Record when he won the AAU Junior Olympic Nationals 800m last summer with a winning time of 45.12. 

  • Tyler Mathews is the fastest outdoor 800m returner with a time of 1:48.72. He will be facing U.S. #2 in the 1,000m Owen Powell (2:24.41).

  • In the mile, Josiah Tostenson has clocked a 4:03.38 and Riley Smith 4:04.65, including a meet record-setting win at The Millrose Games a month ago.

  • Elizabeth Leachman has recorded the top three 3,200m times in U.S. high school history in her first three outdoor meets of the season. She’ll have formidable competition in U.S. sophomore two-mile record holder (9:54.38) Jane Hedengren who won the Simplot Games in 10:02.42 at an altitude of 4,400 feet. 

  • Patrick Koon enters with the fifth-fastest indoor 5,000m time in high school history (14:06.38). His future Stanford teammate, Byron Grevious owns the third fastest outdoor 5,000m time ever run by a junior with a 14:04.44. 

  • Jathiyah Muhammad cleared a U.S. #1 and the fourth-best pole vault in indoor high school history with her 14-07.25 mark. 

  • Avery Lewis owns the U.S. #1 long jump spot with a 21-06. 

  • Skylynn Townsend wowed everyone last year with her 43-06.25 leap which tied her for the fifth-best jump in indoor high school history. 

  • In the Boy’s Triple Jump, the top three U.S. triple jumpers, Jordan Sowell, Jaden Lippett, and Xavier Drumgoole are set to compete. 

In addition to seeing the stars of tomorrow, Nike professional athletes Elise Cranny, TeeTee Terry, and English Gardner are scheduled to attend the event.  

The event will once again host the Shot Put Showcase on Saturday evening. This tournament-style event will have three knockout rounds and be contested between a select group of high school shot putters in two separate competitions for boys and girls.

The 2024 Nike Indoor Nationals is a partnership between the NSAF, Nike, and The Armory Foundation.
