By Adam Kopet, DyeStat Editor

The IAAF announced on Thursday that it has ratified six world record, including the world U20 record in the 60-meter hurdles set by Trey Cunningham at New Balance Nationals Indoor.

Cunningham twice ran under the old record of 7.50 by Konstadinos Douvalidis of Greece and David Omoregie of Great Britain. Douvalidis ran his time in 2006 and Omorgie ran his in 2014. Cunningham ran 7.45 in the prelims and then 7.40 in the finals. His 7.40 time is the new record.

In addition to Cunningham's world U20 record, the IAAF ratified Joyceline Jepkosgei's four world records she set in the Prague Half Marathon in April. The Kenyan broke the overall half marathon world record, finishing in 1:04:52. She also broke the 10-kilometer (30:04), 15-kilometer (45:37) and 20-kilometer (1:01:40) world records en route. The half marathon record was previously held by Peres Jepchirchir of Kenya from the Ras Al-Khaimah Half Marathon in February.

The final record the IAAF ratified was the first of its kind. Ines Henriques of Portugal was official named the world record holder for the women's 50-kilometer race walk with her time of 4:08:26 from January. The event first became record eligible for women at the start of 2017.
